How big should I make a no-sew fleece blanket?

I bought fabric at JoAnn's yesterday, and the lady at the fabric counter told me I needed 2 yards of fabric per person. Well when I looked at the 2 yards of fabric when I got home I realized it was way to big! I just want like a throw blanket...If I cut the fabric to 1 yard per blanket would that be too small? What is a good amount?

I usually get 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 yards(of 60 in. wide) which is a nice size throw to cuddle up with. You can use the extra for hats, scarfs, mittens, or a shawl.
